Download & Configure

Note: If you are overwriting a previous verion, you do not need to overwrite the config file "TRec.Windows.UI.exe.config", just check that your config file has all the same entries in it.
  1. Backup our previous version so you can rollback
  2. Download and extract TRec.zip from this release to the same folder on your PC
  3. Edit TRec.Windows.UI.exe.config and change the paths of any XML files that you need to. If you are using this as a single user, just put them all in the same folder. If you are using this as a group of people, make sure the "TimeEntryFile" and "GoalsFile" are different for each user to help prevent concurrent overwriting (<add key="TimeEntryFile" value="S:\TREC\{USERID}\TimeEntry.xml"/> & <add key="GoalsFile" value="S:\TREC\{USERID}\Goals.xml"/>). "LocalSettingsFile" should either sit in a User's folder, or just leave it sitting with the EXE file (i.e. no path) as it is only relevant to the current installation and does not need to be shared.
  4. You can configure security in a multi-user environment by using NTFS permissions on the config files. For Example, if you do not want someone to be able to update the "ProjectsFile" but do want them to be able to read from it, put it in a shared drive where that user has read-only access. Make sure the all users have write access to "UserFile" and "TimeEntryFile".

  1. Run TRec.Windows.UI.exe, an icon and a reminder balloon will show in your windows task bar
